What we offer
Lip reading Classes
We offer lipreading classes over thirty weeks in the year. They are arranged in ten-week terms commencing in September, January and April. A professionally qualified tutor leads each class.
Conversation and social interaction are encouraged when background noise makes hearing more difficult. Our members have different levels of lipreading ability, and individual progress is monitored by the tutor. This is not possible if the class gets too big, so the size is limited to 15 persons and from time to time, this necessitates a waiting list.
Lipreading Practice: Engage in hands-on lipreading practice sessions to sharpen your ability to interpret spoken language through visual cues.
Lipreading Theory: Delve into the theoretical aspects of lipreading to deepen your understanding of the underlying principles and techniques.
Finger Spelling: Explore the graceful language of fingers with our finger spelling sessions, adding another layer to your communication toolkit.
Optimising Hearing Aid/Implant Use: Learn strategies to maximise the benefits of your hearing aid or implant, ensuring you make the most out of these valuable devices.
Useful Extra Equipment: Discover a range of supplementary tools and equipment designed to complement your hearing aid, providing additional support in various situations.
Hearing-Related Problems and Tactics: Address common challenges associated with hearing loss and explore effective tactics to navigate and overcome them.
Communication Strategies: Equip yourself with a repertoire of communication strategies tailored to various settings, enabling you to engage in conversations and social interactions confidently.
Our holistic approach recognises that effective communication involves more than just lipreading. We are committed to providing a well-rounded program that encompasses theory, practical skills, and valuable insights into maximising the use of technology. Join us on this empowering journey towards enhanced communication, connection, and a vibrant life despite hearing challenges.
